Based in Canterbury and established in 2020, Roake & Cook Limited was founded to help rural business owners optimise their accounting and make the most out of their finances.
With a firm grasp of the difficulties and challenges the rural and agricultural industry face, like the removal of subsidies to the threat of imports and the push for sustainability, time-consuming tax legislations and other accounting regulations should not add to the stress. This is where Roake & Cook come in.
Importance of Rural Accounting
To understand your business’ performance, it’s important to have clear, up-to-date financial information. This is key in responding and ensuring your business can take advantage of the opportunities out there.
Accurate and efficient bookkeeping and payroll systems are vital for this, but we recognise that not every business owner has time to keep on top of these, in addition to the other accounting practices that stem from this, like tax and R&D. It can be quite overwhelming for individuals to take on the accounting themselves and be aware of the different rules, regulations, eligibility and qualifications you need to comply with.
Luckily, Roake & Cook are on hand to help with your rural and agricultural accounting needs.

Having studied Agricultural Business Management and Rural Land and Business Management at the University of Reading, I spent eleven years in private practice with a focus on rural businesses.
The rural sector has always been a passion of mine, with a family history of farming, and helping rural businesses understand their finances and take advantage of new technology and opportunities is why I enjoy doing what we do.
Accounting in the Rural & Agricultural Sector
Over the years, we have worked with farmers, food and drink producers, garden centres, rare breed centres, farm shops, rural manufacturers, and anything else in between. We know historically the rural sector has relied on desktop software for its support systems, but we believe migrating them to cloud accounting will enhance their accounting overview. With our experience of a range of software and being Xero specialists, we can help provide the information you need to run your business.
Whether you are a new business, one looking to switch to cloud software, or a business looking for help with your finance function, we can help. Take a look through our Canterbury accounting services or contact us today to discuss your requirements.
